There’s a good article on Vanity Fair about Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and the movie’s poor box office profits. If you’re the sort of person who complains that, lately, movies are all the same badly-written, recycled garbage then you owe it to yourself to go and see Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Even if you hate Michael Cera to the depths of your being, you should go and see Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. The cast is big and varied, and you will enjoy it. If you have no idea what the movie is even about and you think it looks goofy you should and see Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. I’m telling you that you’ll like it. The movie is fun and original from top to bottom. At its core it’s a love story, wrapped in the conceits of the era of video games (if you grew up with a Nintendo or Sega or any other system in your house, you’ll be on board). Don’t ask why everyone is such a great fighter or why, when bad guys are dispatched, they explode in a shower of coins and points totals. That stuff just is. Hold on to your suspension of disbelief and just have fun. You will enjoy it, so go and see it. F
